It lies approximately 10 kilometres (6 mi) south-west of Okonek, 23 km (14 mi) north-west of Z otów, and 119 km (74 mi) north of the regional capital Pozna . Before 1945 the area was part of Germany. Gmina Okonek is an urban-rural gmina (administrative district) in Z otów County, Greater Poland Voivodeship, in west-central Poland. Its seat is the town of Okonek, which lies approximately 23 kilometres (14 mi) north-west of Z otów and 126 km (78 mi) north of the regional capital Pozna . The gmina covers an area of 325.88 square kilometres (125.8 sq mi), and as of 2006 its total population is 8,909 (out of which the population of Okonek amounts to 3,827, and the population of the rural part of the gmina is 5,082)
