The gmina covers an area of 135.7 square kilometres (52.4 sq mi), and as of 2006 its total population is 5,235. The Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship (also known as Kuyavian-Pomeranian Province, or by its Polish name of województwo kujawsko-pomorskie [v j vut stf ku jafsk p m rsk ] or simply Kujawsko-Pomorskie) is one of the 16 voivodeships (provinces) into which Poland is now divided. It is situated in mid-northern Poland, on the boundary between the two historic regions from which it takes its name: Kuyavia (Polish: Kujawy) and Pomerania (Polish: Pomorze).
