Its seat is the town of Torzym, which lies approximately 16 kilometres (10 mi) south of Sul cin, 49 km (30 mi) south of Gorzów Wielkopolski, and 51 km (32 mi) north-west of Zielona Góra. The gmina covers an area of 374.87 square kilometres (144.7 sq mi), and as of 2006 its total population is 6,796 (out of which the population of Torzym amounts to 2,456, and the population of the rural part of the gmina is 4,340). Sul cin County (Polish: powiat sul ci ski) is a unit of territorial administration and local government (powiat) in Lubusz Voivodeship, western Poland. It came into being on January 1, 1999, as a result of the Polish local government reforms passed in 1998.
