Its seat is the town of Rawa Mazowiecka, although the town is not part of the territory of the gmina. The gmina covers an area of 163.98 square kilometres (63.3 sq mi), and as of 2006 its total population is 8,573. Rawa County (Polish: powiat rawski) is a unit of territorial administration and local government (powiat) in ód Voivodeship, central Poland. It came into being on January 1, 1999, as a result of the Polish local government reforms passed in 1998. Its administrative seat and largest town is Rawa Mazowiecka, which lies 54 kilometres (34 mi) east of the regional capital ód . The only other town in the county is Bia a Rawska, lying 17 km (11 mi) east of Rawa Mazowiecka.
