Autorenporträt
Alex Montez was born and raised in St. Croix in the early 1980s. On October 1, 1994 his Mother, the loveof his life, passed away from a cancerous brain tumor. Alex was only eleven.

In an effort to find himself Alex left St. Croix in 2000. He moved to Philadelphia and lived with his sister for a year. While living there he worked and went to school to finish his senior year. Though Alex was beginning to find himself he still felt a void in his heart, but it all changed in early February of 03. The person he thought was his soul mate and with whom he wanted to spend his life, ended up hurting him deeply. The only thing Alex wanted was love. He only wanted a heart to call home. Alex talked about his sorrows, but that didn't work it made him feel worse. One day, one of Alex's closest friends gave him a journal and told Alex to write his feelings in the book. He went on to say some times writing helps more than talking. At first Alex wrote about everything that was wrong in his life. Poetry never crossed his mind, but one day he just started writing everything in the form of poetry. He kept writing. He wrote about all his heart breaks and his friends' and family's heart breaks. He wrote of their relationship problems. Before he knew it, three years had passed and he had a book of poems that chronicled a wounded heart, how someone in a relationship can often feel lonely or out of place. This is how Poems of a Wounded heart came to life and is now a book.
