Among his many other books is the tongue-in-cheek approach he took in his cookbook In the Mood with Food: A Bachelor's Guide to Wooing Her with Food. The author explains what motivates and inspires him to write poetry: "There have been, and more likely than not, will be moments where my head becomes flooded with a reaction to all that is around me and that which is within me. His interests in life have no bounds: from writing professional articles about law, to his poetry and freelance travel writing/photography. A friend once called him "a man for all seasons," but in typical fashion, he blushed and thought that was an overstatement. Schechterman's poems have previously been published in New Dimensions: An Anthology of American Poetry, Idlewild Publishing Co. (1967); The National Library of Poetry publications: Surrounded by Dreams (1998); Touched by Grace (1999); The Harmony of Silence (2000); Forever Spoken (2007); The International Who's Who in Poetry (2007); Collected Whispers (2008); and The Best Poems and Poets of 2007 (2008). He is a member of The Professional Writers Alliance and The American Writers & Artists, Inc., and has been included in Who's Who in America and Who's Who in the World.
