Autorenporträt
Oktay Rifat (1914-1988), born in Trebizond on the Black Sea, was an attorney by profession and for many years a legal advisor for Turkish State Railways. He was in the forefront of modern Turkish poetry from the late 1930s onwards. Rifat is also well known for his plays, translations and two novels. Ruth Christie was born and educated in Scotland. She has been translating novels, short stories and poetry from the Turkish for many years. Richard McKane is a poet and translator of poetry from Russian and Turkish. He lives and works in London.
