Poetry Has the Power to Heal and Comfort during a Pandemic After visiting her birth country of China during the beginning of the COVID-19 crisis, poet and entrepreneur, Dawn Li, Ph.D., was inspired to organize a group of poets from around the world to write inspirational poems in response to the tragedy. In Poetic Medicine, poets-young and old-came forward in an international effort to unite humanity in a fight against Covid-19. Hailing from places like Nigeria, Australia, India, the United States, Scotland, and China, these poets expressed their own worries, desires, and dreams in words that we can all relate to. Dawn Li grew up in Southern China, and studied and worked in Wuhan for six years, where the coronavirus hit first. She is the author of Song of a Lotus Leaf, a memoir in poetry, and holds a doctorate in literature from George Washington University.
Autorenporträt
Dawn Li (Renhui) is an entrepreneur, poet, and educator. Having lived and worked extensively both in the US and China, she has embraced a life philosophy that centers on the human ideals of collaboration and collective advancement. Many of those experiences are chronicled in her poetry collection, "Song of a Lotus Leaf," published in early 2020 by Precocity Press. Her doctorate dissertation on T. S. Eliot reveals insights hidden in his modern poetic masterpieces through the perspective of death and enlightenment during a cultural crisis. Seeing poetry as a powerful healing tool, she organized like-minded poets on allpoetry.com and beyond to contribute to the creation of healing poems, which became this poetic medicine project in support of our fight against Covid-19. Dawn is the head of a data analytics firm and has taught college level courses from culture to computer science. She holds a doctorate in American Literature from George Washington University.
