I wrote several poems in my early twenties. Many years later, I began to write several poems a week. I was inspired by my lovely wife, whom I married in 2010 following a four-year long-distance love affair. These poems are for and about her.

Autorenporträt
In spite of being born in a log cabin in South Porcupine Ontario at the beginning of the Great Depression, (there is no North Porcupine!) Ray Stone never became President of anything. Well Actually, he is Past President of the National Press Club of Canada, and President/Founder of C.R.A.P., the Committee for the Removal of Artistic Pollution. His school and street education in Windsor Ontario has given him a rather warped view of society, and in particular, the vehicularly challenged among us. He survived a decade or so in the RCAF (Post-war) including a four year stint with NATO in Europe and two years as a Public Relations Officer at a NORAD base in Northern Michigan. Following his voluntary release from the Air Force, he worked for the CBC as a 'talking head' before returning to Ottawa to work as a Special Assistant to several Cabinet Ministers. He rounded out his career with the Public Service as Head of the film, video and exhibits division of Transport Canada Public Affairs, and as a Major in the Air Force Reserves. Since retiring from the 'Feds', he has free-lanced for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, acted in about 30 films, hosted a variety of television series, including the award-wining "To Your Health", and for fifteen years was moderator of a phone-in radio show "Experts On Call" on News-Talk Radio, 580-CFRA in Ottawa. His first book, "Women Can't Merge, Men Won't Yield" is an equal opportunity rant against stupid male drivers and oblivious female drivers. His second book, "The 'Joy' of Smoking" will hopefully convince smokers to quit the weed. His third book, "Poetically Licentious" was written for his beautiful wife Karen. They now live in Orange County California. Ray also accompanied Prime Minister Pierre Elliot Trudeau and his new wife Margaret on their 'honeymoon' trip aboard a Canadian Coast Guard ice-breaker on a tour of the Maritime provinces in August 1971.
