Born on the plains of South Dakota, Marilyn enjoys writing about prairie farm life. Her love of writing came from her father, who had a great sense of humor, and like Marilyn, was a nocturnal reader. She has traveled throughout the United States. Alaska is the last state on her "Bucket List." While living in Concord, Massachusetts she visited the homes and graves of several great writers and poets. It was there, while taking a creative writing course at Middlesex College that she was inspired to write short stories, which led to writing poetry. After her children grew up she retired from her accounting career, and began to write again. Mary Harker and her fellow Oasis students motivated her to develop her writing skills. Marilyn's poetry appears in editions of The Oasis Journal, The International Library of Poetry, San Diego Poetry Annual, on Internet sites, and in a book authored by a friend. Stories by survivors of the Witch Creek fire in San Diego County inspired her to write about the experience. Recently she moved from Santee, CA to Littleton, Co., giving her new fodder for her poetry...from the prairies...to the oceans...to the mountains... Marilyn is pleased when people identify with the feelings expressed through her written words.
