Er verfügt über Fachkenntnisse in Ökologie und Umweltwissenschaften, beschäftigt sich mit allen Facetten des Lebens und der Kulturen im Himalaya, insbesondere der Berglandwirtschaft, und hat 50 Bücher und mehr als 200 Artikel veröffentlicht.
