Political abstention, political apathy, political alienation, political disengagement, and many other descriptions have been used to study the same phenomenon. Morocco and the United Kingdom are two very different cases, but the phenomenon that both countries are facing regardless of their political system, their culture, their history, their social makeup and economic status is the same and poses the same challenges to both states. The two cases at hand are two different contexts that yield different causes for abstention to emerge and it is here where the complexity of the research lies.
