The present research condenses a part of his doctoral thesis, linked to the re-election of the executive body - both at the provincial and municipal level - in the province of Formosa in the period 1983/2013. The work starts from an initial question, linked to which are the political and electoral behaviours of the governors and mayors of the province under study in relation to the different possibilities of re-election that the local political systems offer them, from which it comes out others that he tries to answer along the work, as, for example, How the processes of political reform that incorporated the different modalities of re-election for the governors and mayors affected the local party elites? The possibility of reelection of the executive body is undoubtedly a complex issue, which has generated a lively debate in national and foreign doctrine and which has both detractors and defenders who resort to various and fervent arguments to support their positions, presented by the author in the work.
