The book provides an overview and analysis of the South African electricity supply landscape from 1984. Beginning with the end of the Apartheid era, and working through the effects of the democratic and economic transition of 1994, and considering the possibilities of energy cooperation with BRICS countries since 2010, the author sheds light on the impacts and realities of electricity supply faced by government, business and society in South Africa. This comes at a time where South Africa makes great efforts to define itself as a burgeoning powerhouse in Africa, and on the international stage.
