Tamnan Phuen Müang Chiang Mai or the Chiang Mai Chronicle is regarded as historical evidence. It records important accounts in the past, from the 13th to 18th centuries. It was found out that in a restoration period of Müang Chiang Mai in the 18th century, the Tamnan Phra Non Prua Prang or story of the Reclining Buddha, a religious inventory, was not consistent with the chronicle. Thus this study aims to analyze the reason that the writer inserted the story of the Reclining Buddha Tamnan.
