The partition of India is a historical event; it is thoroughly discussed in the field of literature. Various studies of research have been carried out by many eminent scholars. There are many novels, articles, book reviews, research papers and thesis written on the theme of partition and politics. There are many works which are mainly centered on the novelists like Chaman Nahal, Bhisham Sahani, Bapsi Sidhwa, Khushwant Singh and Salman Rushdie to this date but no full length study of Politics of Partition covering the selected novels like Azadi, Tamas, Ice Candy Man, Train to Pakistan and Shame. The present study will add a step further to the research done by various scholars in this field. This study is with special reference to the novels of Chaman Nahal's Azadi, Bhisham Sahani's Tamas, Bapsi Sidhwa's Ice Candy Man, Khushwant Singh's Train to Pakistan and Salman Rushdie's Shame from the historical and political perspectives.
