The partition of India is a historical event; it is thoroughly discussed in the field of literature. Various studies of research have been carried out by many eminent scholars. There are many novels, articles, book reviews, research papers and thesis written on the theme of partition and politics. This study is with special reference to the novels of Chaman Nahal's Azadi, Bhisham Sahani's Tamas, Bapsi Sidhwa's Ice Candy Man, Khushwant Singh's Train to Pakistan and Salman Rushdie's Shame from the historical and political perspectives.
