The Department of Geology at Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati is one of the pioneering institutes in India, which intensively carried out ecological,geochemical, sedimentological and neotectonic studies on coastal water bodies for over 40 years. The Micropaleontological Division in the Department has been dynamic for the last 30 years, and vigorously conducted ecological studies on foraminifera and ostracod, along coastal water bodies in Andhra Pradesh, and in prolongation of this research, the present work was taken up to understand for aminifera as bioindicators in detecting pollution levels in the coastal water bodies situated along Nellore coast of Andhra Pradesh State.
