Stainless steel being the most used alloy in many industrial applications requires a prolonged vision on its anticorrosive performances, so as to attain great conservation on economy as well as resources. Even though corrosion cannot be completely stopped, but it could be prevented by suitable preventive measures such as inhibitors, surface treatments and coatings. The anticorrosive performance of polymer coatings has been underway in practice for many years, which raised our interest to investigate the performance of electrochemically synthesized PPy coatings in aqueous sodium salicylate electrolyte. Among the different concentration of sodium salicylate such as 0.5 M, 1.0 M and 1.5 M, the electrochemical synthesis of the polypyrrole coating formed on LN SS at 0.5 M of aqueous sodium salicylate showed a uniform dense coated morphology as evidence in the scanning electron microscopic studies. Thus the as formed polypyrrole coating was further optimized at the various scan rate during electrochemical synthesis.
