Descriptive and transversal study in the General Teaching Hospital "Comandante Pinares" of San Cristóbal, Artemisa, whose universe of work was formed by all the patients admitted in the same with diagnosis of polytraumatized, from January 2015 to December 2017, including both. The purpose of the study was the clinical-epidemiological characterization of polytrauma patients. The variables analyzed were: age, sex, origin, affected body region, type of shock, need for surgical treatment and need for mechanical ventilatory support. A data recording sheet was prepared to facilitate data management. Percentage was used as a summary measure for qualitative variables and the Chi-square statistical test for the association between qualitative variables. Blunt abdominal trauma predominated, followed by thoracic contusion, liver and spleen were the most frequently damaged organs in abdominal contusion and rib fracture was the most frequent injury in thoracic trauma. There was delay in the management of the polytraumatized patient and we developed a plan of action.
