With the political will to make the extractive sector the second pillar of the Ivorian economy, many gold deposits such as Sissingué have entered the exploitation phase. While its contribution to the country's economic development is not controversial, the question of its local impact deserves attention. It is in this context that this study was initiated in order to show the contribution of the Sissingué gold mining operation to the development of the Kanakono sub-prefecture. The methodological approach adopted was based on documentary research based on previous work and field surveys. The results show that the local populations have high hopes for the exploitation of this gold mine operated by Perseus Mining Limited. This operation, through the Local Mining Development Committee set up, allows the Kanakono sub-prefecture to benefit from infrastructure. However, this operation is not without impact on the health of the population and the environment.
