In 2016, the Gorontalo Province Fish Quarantine Agency issued a list of fish species that were included in protected fish species, which were banned from fishing and Huluu were included in the fish list. Furthermore, The IUNC has determined that the Giuris margaritacea is included in the 2017 List of Threatened Species with the Least Concern status.
