The overall effect of insecticide combinations viz., profenophos (40 %) + cypermethrin (4%) @ 1500 ml/ha, cypermethrin (3%) + quinolphos (20%) @ 400 ml/ha, chlorpyriphos (50%) + cypermethrin (5%) @ 1000 ml/ha, chorpyriphos (16%) + alphacypermethrin (1%) @ 2500 ml/ha, pyriproxifen (5%) + fenpropathrin (15%) @ 750 ml/ha, deltamethrin (1%) + trizophos (35%) @ 1250 ml/ha and ethion (40%) + cypermethrin (5%) @ 1000 ml/ha indicated that deltamethrin (1%) + trizophos (35%) was the best treatment for the control of shoot and fruit borer infesting brinjal recording highest yield. The lady bird beetles population in all insecticide treatments was low as compared to untreated control indicating that all the insecticides were toxic to the predator. The treatment comprised of deltamethrin (1%) + trizophos (35%) @ 1250 ml/ha and cypermethrin (3%) + quinolphos (20%) @ 400 ml/ha were highly toxic to lady bird beetles whereas, pyriproxifen (5%) + fenpropathrin was comparatively safer.
