Finite land resources are under continuous pressure from a growing population. In Assam's erstwhile Nalbari district these equations are extremely tenuous given marginal levels of urbanization and form the focus of this book. A growing population set against the backdrop of agrarian Nalbari has impacted the size of agricultural landholdings and accentuated land use/ land cover change. The likely impacts of the Pagladia Dam Project on the already stretched resources are also assessed.
