Very little has been written about children's Literature in Uganda and elsewhere. This book expresses the need to revisit the type of Literature we teach our children, especially in the Thematic Curriculum thus introduced in the education system in Uganda. This book is meant to re-awaken the instructors and teachers of children into examining the reading materials they offer children at a vulnerable age. Sr. Theresa Frances Namirembe, who has been a Head teacher in a number of Catholic High Schools in Uganda, a writer and a translator of a number of church and Congregation documents, expresses her love and concern for the plight of children. "Portraits of the Girl and Boy Children in Kiganda Tradition Deconstructed: Children's Literature in Kiganda" is a must read. Folktales, Proverbs and proverbial names of the Baganda are written in Luganda and translated to English in the Appendix to ease understanding and follow up for the readers. Show your great love and concern for your children. God Bless all of you! - Sr. Dr. Noeline Nakato DM, Lecturer CUEA University-Nairobi.
