This work was carried out at the Military Hospital Dr. "José Ángel Álamo" in Barquisimeto, Edo. Lara, Venezuela, with the participation of pregnant women and some of their partners. The methodology used was of a mixed type, using observation, interviews, socio-demographic interviews and experiential workshops on Positive Parentality. The theoretical model was empowerment and a primary prevention level was assumed. The participants' lack of knowledge about the gestation process and their parental skills, among others, was evident. Positive aspects were observed during the workshops, such as increased awareness of nutrition, the need to use the multidisciplinary team during pregnancy, and the active role of the couple, among others. Thus, the Positive Parenthood program contains effective results in hospital centers. It is recommended to motivate the medical personnel and the participants so that there is greater attendance at the meetings, to sensitize the doctors to develop a comprehensive plan for the prevention of difficulties during pregnancy, and to officially establish the Positive Parenthood programme in the Health Centre.
