Autorenporträt
Carlos Eduardo Costa de Almeida graduated in Medicine by the University of Coimbra in 2004 and completed the General Surgery residency in 2012 at Centro Hospitalar de Coimbra, obtaining the best national classification. He worked at Centro Hospitalar e Universitário de Coimbra till 2020 and was an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Coimbra till 2021. Now he is a surgeon in Instituto Português de Oncologia de Coimbra, in Hospital CUF Coimbra and Hospital Luz Aveiro. He is a member the Administration Board of Portuguese Society of Surgery and member of the European Society of Endocrine Surgeons. He performs colorectal surgery, oncologic surgery, hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery, endocrine surgery, abdominal wall hernia surgery, and is an expert of minimally invasive surgery techniques in all the different areas. He was the first to perform the retroperitoneoscopic adrenalectomy in Coimbra, in 2015. Since then, he published several papers on the topic, and demonstrated the small learning curve of retroperitoneoscopic adrenalectomy.
