Good quality management of postoperative pain favours improved rehabilitation after surgery and a reduction in the length of stay in hospital, hence the interest in assessing postoperative pain in patients, particularly in oncological surgery, which is thus reputed to be hyperalgesic. In fact, postoperative pain is the best known type of pain, and is currently being studied and managed more and more effectively. Moreover, depending on the duration of the pain, the intensity of the pain, the drugs prescribed and the locoregional analgesia techniques used, the management of the pain, which should be a team effort centred on the patient, is determined.
