Postural imbalance is common manifestation ofMultiple Sclerosis (MS) and a frequent cause ofsignificant disability. Proper evaluation andmonotoring of its evolution can prove to be avaluable tool in identifying either diseaseprogression or potential benefit of therapeuticinterventions.Postural instability in realtively non-dysfunctionalMS patients can be hard to recognize even on clinicalphysical examination. Even though there are no setguidelines or consensus on a standardized way ofassessing balance for the MS populations, there aremethods that give a quantitative, computerized, objective results that can be followed over time, such as seen with the NeuroCom Balance Master. This very important clinical manifestation is notbeing effectively used for evaluation of diseaseprogression, despite being one of the most commonmanifestations of MS. This is even more relevant inpatients that have low disability, as they have fewidentifiable signs of imbalance.
