Rural Development is now viewed as a strategy specifically designed to improve the economic and social life of a specific group of people, viz., rural poor . The present study is concerned with the problem of rural poor, rural economy, poverty structure, education, health, transport, communication and rural development in India. The main objective is to study the implementation of the rural development programmes as well as their implications in the development of the rural poor.

Jyoti Prakash Sharma has completed his Ph.D. in 2010 from Banaras Hindu University,Varanasi,India. His specialization in the field of Population Geography, Indian Poverty and Rural Development.
