Urban poverty has been widespread in every corner of the globe and becoming a growing concern for both government and non-government institutions alike. Urban poverty is increasingly linked with the attribute of urbanization and exhibits specific features which need to be understood better in context. In order for the poor to with stand internal and external shocks as a result of the urbanization process, a part of social protection program was initiated by governments and non-government organizations in urban areas. The urban productive safety net program is part of such social protection with the purpose of dealing poverty and vulnerability of the poor. In Ethiopia, the urban productive net (UPSNP) has been implemented in Addis Ababa and other piloted cities of the nation since 2016. The first phase of the UPSNP beneficiaries are expected to graduate from the program being pulled out of from poverty and improved their livelihoods sustainably. However, the current study by me was done to find out whether these graduated beneficiaries from the first phase of the program were really pulled out of poverty and enhanced their livelihoods means or not.
