The major indicators of poverty in the study area are access to basic farm input, market and transportation problems, erratic power supply, lack of access to safe water and poor medical facilities.

The author is currently a Lecturer at Bowen University, Iwo, Osun State Nigeria. She holds B.SC, M.Sc, PhD in Agricultural Economics at the University of Ibadan Nigeria and a Post Graduate Diploma Degree in Sustainable Local Economic Development from Erasmus University. Her research focus is in the area of Welfare and Development Economics.
