The unpredictable and chaotic environments of today raise the prominence of resilience as an aspect desired equally by individuals and organizations. This book introduces a new theoretical approach to resilience as well as a model elucidating and visualizing the resilience process. An empirical study, focusing on extreme sports athletes, forms the foundation for this dynamic framework that allows interactions between the resilient individual and his environment. Based on case studies and in consensus with the findings of the survey, the scope of the resilience concept is extended to business organizations.
