This hands-on book teaches advanced robotic building techniques using robotic kits. This is the first book to focus on robot building using a multitude of different kits, which can provide an inexpensive and convenient way to learn advanced concepts. The construction, theory, and experiments are explained in detail for different types of robots. Experimental Robotics with Kits is an independent and thorough resource for knowledge and understanding of robotics for both the hobbyist and student. Experimental Robotics with Kits complements our existing robotics series by addressing an advanced audience. The road map looks like this: - Beginning: Robot Building for Beginners - Intermediate: Intermediate Robot Building - Advanced: Experimental Robotics with Kits TOC:Introduction.- Fundamentals of Electronics and Mechanics.- Introduction to Microcontrollers.- Basic Stamp Microcontrollers.- Object Oriented PIC (OOPIC) Microcontroller.- Atomic Pro Microcontroller.- DC and Servo Motors.- DC Motors.- Theory of Operation.- Applications.- Servo Motors.- Theory of Operation.- Applications.- PC Interfacing.- Parallel Port Interface.- Serial Port Interface.- USB.- Arm Robots.- 5 Degree of Freedom Arm Robot.- Mechanical Construction.- Electronics.- Controls and Interfacing.- 6 Degrees of Freedom Arm Robot with Servos.- Mechanical Construction.- Electronics.- Controls and Interfacing.- Wheeled Robots.- Two Wheel Drive Robot.- Mechanical Construction.- Electronics.- Controls.- Four Wheel Drive Robot.- Mechanical Construction.- Electronics.- Controls.- Legged Robots.- Hexapod Walking Robot.- Mechanical Construction.- Electronics.- Controls and Interfacing.- Biped Walking Robot.- Mechanical Construction.- Electronics.- Controls and Interfacing.
