Tennis arrived in Brazil in the late 19th century, through English and French immigrants, and over the years the sport has been gaining fans. Some players with international prominence appeared, such as Maria Esther Bueno and Fernando Ariel Meligeni. However, tennis started to become popular among Brazilians after Gustavo Kuerten won the Roland Garros title in 1997 according to Teles (2000) and Cafisso and Teixeira (2010).However, although this sport has gained more prominence in recent years, it still cannot be considered a popular sport, and is considered by many as an elitist sport (MULLER; RODRIGUES, 2012; CORTELA et al., 2020), which, most of the time, is practiced in closed clubs and gyms.
