Each established university, whether public or private, has unique prospects and challenges it faces in her bid to fulfill her role using resources available to it. In particular, Kyambogo University has prospects and faces many challenges especially those concerned with breaking away from the old traditions, values, cultural practices as well as orientations of the former three institutions that merged to create the current Kyambogo University. Currently, there are challenges faced by Kyambogo University in the areas of teaching, research, community service, scholarship, research and publication, research ethics, institutional autonomy and academic freedom, quality, management of graduate studied and intellectual property that stems from cultural practices of the former institutions that merged to form the current Kyambogo University. It is the aforementioned challenges that necessitated an investigation into the prospects and challenges facing Kyambogo University. Consonant with the bid of obtaining data and information for the investigation, questionnaires Interview Schedules, documentary, and observation checklists were used to collect data for the study.
