Preparing for Resurrection is a book of modern fables and parables which were created to be cognitive exercises for inspiration, motivation, and transformation. The author's creative writing may be used as a professional tool for clergy, catechists, and life coaches, or simply as entertaining personal reading. These stories also work well for 12 Step programs and other discussion groups. The book contains a topical index and a sample study guide, as well as a table of contents. It is divided into seven topical sections: The Human Condition and Saving Grace; Parenting, Trauma and Conditioning; Doubt and Fear; Character and Maturity; Purpose and Hope; Faith and Finances; and Transformation. The stories and fables are sequenced to flow from cover to cover for the individual reader, but may be taken out of context for professional use. The topical index is provided as a guide for multiple applications for various groups, secular or religious. Several may be used to assist entrepreneurs in understanding the development of a business plan. Some double as children's stories, though they were written primarily for adults. All assist individuals and groups in raising awareness and seeing new perspectives and possibilities, often giving practical advice in a simple creative format which may be more effective than the direct, confrontational approach. Thus, the stories themselves become a form of cognitive behavioral therapy. These stories take on several forms. Some, like "All Ears," are a riddle as well as a fable. Others, such as "The Breakfast Trilogy" are vignettes. Theses are mixed in with several fables and parables, from "The Woman Who Turned into a Box," to "The Mouse Who Learned How to Fly." There is even a round of poetic prose in the thumbnail short, "The Gentle Breeze." Each has its own personal message. Everyone will find themselves hidden somewhere in this book!

Autorenporträt
Linda Rose D'Avanzo, a native of the Hudson Valley, is a contemplative author who uses her studies in neurology, psychology, and theology in the form of short stories, modern fables, and parables designed for personal and spiritual growth. These stories are valuable tools for raising awareness and inspiring positive changes in the perspectives of individuals and communities. Linda gleaned her studies from many sources including seminars with INR and IBP, summer programs at Franciscan University at Steubenville, and liberal arts classes in local colleges. Linda holds over 35 certificates from Institute for Natural Resources and the Institute for Brain Potential as well as Entrepreneur Training at the Orange County Chamber of Commerce Business Development Center, and Peer Counseling through the Spiritual Development Center of the Archdiocese of New York. In religious settings she has produced adult catechetical programs, parish missions, and days of recollection, often incorporating scripture, art, and music with her creative writing in her educational and inspirational events. She has also done stress reduction workshops and small business development programs for artists and entrepreneurs. Inspired by her friend and mentor, Fr. Benedict Groeschel, she decided to follow in his footsteps with his blessing. As Fr. Groeschel's work combined psychology and spiritual development, Linda's work combines neurology and spiritual development. Her writing was designed to be used by catechists and clergy, life and business coaches, therapists, and individuals involved in 12 step programs. However, these stories do stand on their own for readers who enjoy creative writing, short stories, and personal meditations.
