This book is an analysis of the weaknesses in the Zambian media laws that infringe on the principles of press freedom and freedom of expression, within the realm of the Social Responsibility and Libertarian theories of a free press. The book also identifies the role played by the Zambian state in media regulation. Despite numerous promises from the Zambian government to review media laws, they have not fulfilled their promises. As a result, the media in Zambia continues to operate under a difficult media legislative environment and consequently the growth of the media has been hampered.

Autor

Hlazo Mkandawire is a journalist, blogger and media researcher. He earned his University degree from the University of Zambia (UNZA) where he graduated with a Bachelor of Mass Communication (BMC) in 2007. In March 2013, Hlazo earned his Master of Philosophy in Media Studies with distinction from the University of Oslo (UiO).
