Pressure sores are a universal problem and are common across all health care settings. They cause significant morbidity and mortality and can drastically reduce quality of life, especially amongst the elderly. This book gives a general overview on pressure sores and associated costs. It includes a study on the incidence and prevalence of pressure sores in a geriatric setting, and on the cost of pressure sore treatment with respect to wound products. This book would be useful for those who would like to familiarise themselves with the aetiology, classification, prevention, treatment and various costs of pressure sores. It also gives an insight on the methodologies used to measure occurrences of such wounds. Recommendations on prevention of this largely preventable problem are also explored.
