"You want to do what?" She asked, giggling. "Yeah, let's hike from Canada to Mexico." I answered. She stopped giggling. "With the kids?" Welcome to the Pacific Crest Trail. "You want to do what?" She asked, giggling. "Yeah, let's hike from Canada to Mexico." I answered. She stopped giggling. "With the kids?" Welcome to the Pacific Crest Trail. The Strawbridge family found themselves shivering in a cold rain on a high pass in the North Cascade Mountains far from civilization and armed with little more than a vague notion of what it would take to walk 2650 miles up and down a wild and remote wilderness trail from Canada to Mexico. "Really? Can you even walk from Canada to Mexico? " Vince and Monica set out with their four children, ranging in age from 11 to 16, on the walk of a lifetime . Like any family adventure, it would be filled with squabbles and fun. An experience compounded all the more by mosquitoes, and bears,` and blisters, and plantar fasciitis, and dirt, and miscalculation of miles, and time, so much time. Join the family as they traverse the United States from the top to the bottom, and listen in as they sort out what it means to be a family in pursuit of a goal that seemed unattainable.

Autorenporträt
Vince wouldn't have ventured into the outdoors if the housing market hadn't taken a nosedive, making hiking suddenly look like the only affordable vacation option. He didn't even like walking-but his wife did, and that was enough to pique his interest. Like everything else he gets into, though, he took it one step too far. Or in this case, 8,000 miles worth of steps too far, dragging Monica and the kids down three of the longest trails in the United States. In 2021 they became the largest family to have completed the hiker's Triple Crown. At the moment, he and his youngest (who, for some inexplicable reason, still talks to him) are off on the gap year of a lifetime. By now they will have walked the Great Divide Trail through the Canadian Rockies, and soon they will trek a brand-new 3,000-kilometer trail through the French Alps and down through the Pyrenees. And when he's not lost somewhere in the mountains? You'll catch him building docks and seawalls in central Florida, probably daydreaming about his next adventure.
