The mouth is a mirror of health or disease, a sentinel or early warning system. The oral cavity might well be thought as a window to the body because oral manifestations accompany many systemic diseases. Oral lichen planus (OLP) is a chronic inflammatory disease, affecting nearly 1-2% of the population and is the most common mucocutaneous disease that affects oral mucosa. Despite recent advances the initial triggering factor for this lesion and essential pathogenic pathway are unknown.LP is significantly associated with Dyslipidaemia even after controlling for confounders Association of Lichen Planus has been found to be more prominent in hypothyroidism, diabetes, hypertension, socioeconomic status and obesity, including age, sex, smoking. Hypothyroidism may occur as a result of primary gland failure or insufficient thyroid gland stimulation by the hypothalamus or pituitary gland. In this review , we have correlated the prevalence of Oral Lichen Planus in patients with history ofHypothyroidism.
