The prevalence of Rhesus negativity and the morbidity attributable to it is low in the negroid populations. It is not known why there should be such a large racial disparity in its prevalence and related morbidity. This publication reports on the prevalence, management of Rhesus negative women in an African negroid population in Zimbabwe. It raises the important question whether it is cost effective to screen and monitor Rhesus negative mother in this population.
