Overweight and obesity are conditions in which more calories are consumed than are utilized by the body resulting to energy inbalamce. They are commonly assessed using body mass index which is a non-invasive method. Overweight and obesity prevalence is dramatically on the increase across all population globally. They lead to myriads of health problems such as diabetes type 2, some cancers, cardiovascular diseases. Many factors including enivornmental, genetic cause the conditions, however prevention is the best strategy in combating the current epidemic. Their prevalence was assessed among adult females and it was discovered that overweight and not obesity existed among the women. Majority of the women were at risk of cardiovascular diseases as shown by their waist hip ratios. The study underscores the need for right food habits which will help in preventing the conditions.
