This study was carried out to determine the prevalence and risk factors associated with Plasmodium and geohelminth infection among internally displaced persons (IDPs) on Camps in Abuja Nigeria. Socio-demographic and risk factors predisposing the IDPs to Plasmodium infection and soil transmitted helminthes were determined by the administration of structured questionnaires. Fresh stool and blood samples were collected from four hundred internally displaced persons living on camps in Abuja Nigeria. The stool samples were processed using direct wet mount and formol-ether concentration technique and microscopically examined for geohelminth infections. Blood samples were examined for Plasmodium parasitaemia using Giemsa-stained thick and thin film and RDT method. Packed Cell Volume (PCV) was determined. The study reported prevalence of 42.0% using Microscopy and 30.5% Plasmodium infection using RDT. Out of the 400 stool samples examined using formol ether concentration technique 48 (12.0%) were infected with soil-transmitted helminthes and 2.3% geohelminth infection was reported using Wet mount method. Prevalence of other parasite present was 3.8%.
