Inventories generally list the date ordered, date recorded, slaves/Negroes, and signer(s). Wills, which vary greatly in length, frequently list name of spouse, names of children, occasionally other relatives, details of individual bequests (some to servants and/or slaves), legatee (s), executor(s), signer(s), date of document, date proven, and names of witnesses. Estate Accounts list numerous names and related information under "To" and "By," date of document, date ordered, date recorded, and signers. Estate Sales generally list the name(s) of purchaser(s), date ordered and date recorded. All entries list the page number(s) of the original source and the full name of the decedent. There are over 700 slave listings in this book. A full-name and place index, which includes the given names all slaves, adds to the value of this work.
