The basics of Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)state that knowledge, learning and competencies can be recognized by accrediting institutions, professional orders and employers regardless of where the learning or competencies were originally acquired. With the continued flow of information and human capital between borders, this is a concept worth noting and implementing. This book is a case study of participant narratives in the prior learning assessment and recognition (PLAR) process at The Royal Military College (RMC) in Kingston, Ontario,Canada. The book explores the important role of the candidate in the process of recognizing their own learning. The case study will be of interest to educators in the adult and lifelong learning sectors, human resource professionals, professional orders, education administrators and individuals seeking a process to have their knowledge recognized for formal accreditation.
