Prison Management System is the software developed for the Ethiopian prisons. Prison Management in Ethiopia has long been a neglected area and has only recently been included in the 1983-2005 E.C / 1995-2012 G.C vision documents under the Southern Nations and Nationalities security enhancement. Currently, prisoner records are maintained in a very rudimentary way in the form of manual files. There is no single system which can provide the required information about a current or a former prisoner. In view of the current volatile security situation, the above manual system results in delays in retrieving valuable information. There are instances when certain information on the crime scene like fingerprints can be traced back to a person having a criminal record. In a manual system, there is no way that the above can be checked in real time. Our project titled Prison Management System takes all these deficiencies into account and aims to provide a single system which integrates all the information about a prisoner in a single profile. In addition to the standard set of prisoner information, each prisoner profile would have a fingerprint signature attached with it.
