I am a layman, with respect to the Bible; however, from a wide variety of resources and books read I have something to say. God gives each and every one of us a gift, some of those around us have two or more gifts. I would like to think that God gave me the ability to read (voraciously), to study and research, and to write. I may not always be eloquent, but I believe I have something to pass on to everyone. May God richly bless you all, for taking the time to even consider reading this book! Godspeed to all!

Autorenporträt
My Blog, Prodigal's Son Ministry, was actually steeped in the idea to get me to study the Bible more in depth. I actually began this, experiment if you will, after having my second hip replacement. And was quite bored at the time. I began my other two Blogs, Brother Murf's Corner and Doc Murf's Corner Bookshelf, around the same time; however, the premise behind these two were a bit more simplistic. This book is a collection of the blog postings for the Prodigal's Son Ministry on Wordpress.com. This first volume is a collection from January, 2015 - December, 2016 (a two year period.) These are original works, yet in some cases the ideas were from other people's works. I am still, even to this day, making my way through Biblical doctrine and theology, though you may disagree with what is written bear in mind that I am still a work in progress. I remember a story, I believe by Harvey Mackay a motivational speaker, author and a businessman: General Douglas MacArthur needed a bridge built across a river in the Philippines. He said so to a nearby Captain. A day, or two, later the Captain returned to General MacArthur with a salute and said, "Your bridge is ready, sir! But we will have to wait if we need authorization for it, sir!" The crux of this for me is that, if we are to fulfill the mandate from Jesus, which says: "...Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature..." ~Mark 16:13-16 "...Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations..." ~Matthew 28:15-20 We can each read this and all come up with a different understanding. But basically we are looking at a mandate to go out into the world (whether it be our local world, city/state, or into the literal world as missionaries) to teach those who do not know Jesus or the One True God to teach them all that we know of God. Using the teachings of Christ, the Gospels, and the epistles of Paul, John, James, etc. to aid all those we come in contact with. I hate to use such terminology, but you might consider it a holy version of the Pyramid schemes or years gone by. In effect, the Jesus model of teaching was to teach the 12, the 12 would go out and teach others, and those who received knowledge from the twelve apostles would teach others. I personally believe, that we are told to go out and teach in the same way and manner. You may not be astute in everything about the Bible, the Biblical text, etc. you will learn along the way. Hold no fear of making mistakes...
