All stages of technological preparation of production of parts obtained by cutting with non-core tools (electrode-wire) on CNC EDM equipment are described. Problems of machining area representation in CAD/CAM environment for linear surfaces with different upper and lower contour are considered in details. Such surfaces with complex profile are encountered during production of forming parts for moulds and dies. Methodical recommendations for solving problems of representation of such contours are offered. Four concrete examples of the application of the developed method are considered. One of them is an extension of the known method of producing two parts from a single workpiece by a parting method. However, in the described case, the disconnection method on the surface of a complex profile is used, which allowed to reduce material consumption by up to 30%.
