Thematizing the social role and the value of a profession is an indispensable condition. The book presents the results of research that includes as objectives to construct, standardize, validate a measuring instrument and measure the identity of the professional Production Engineer, as well as to characterize the areas of activity and preference of this category. The universe considered was the graduates of FUNCESI-Itabira/MG, between 2010 and 2016, residing in the region of Médio Piracicaba/MG. To this end, the typical professional trajectory is described, considering the subjects' areas of activity and predilection. Subsequently, the professional identity was measured, based on standardized instruments, from the perspective of self- and hetero-perception. Finally, the association between professional identity and the areas in which the professional in question works is presented. More than thinking of the profession associated with the industry, one is surprised by the amplitude and areas of performance and the contributions of this professional to the economic, productive, and social structuring. Scientific methods were followed to identify the fundamentals and empirical data necessary for the consolidation of consistent and reliable material.
