As a teacher for 16 years, I have always been feeling the need for raising qualified teachers in Northern Cyprus. Teachers should be hired and inspected according to the professional teaching standards. Initial teacher training providers should have programs prepared due to the professional teaching standards. Also, teachers' in-service training needs should be programmed using the professional teaching standards. Teachers' should know how to design their ongoing professional development. Being aware of these needs, I decided to propose the professional teaching standards as a national framework in North Cyprus. Using mixed methods required me using both qualitative and quantitative research strategies. Rasch model analysis for analysing the quantitative data was applied for having more valid and reliable results.
